I never thought about it before but I am so glad she didn't cheat on Philip. I've never been a fan of Lucas, Sami or Lumi, but I do recognise that BD
and AS have something special on screen. It is a shame that they have made him this fall guy again. It is so unimaginative - yet another example of how DH
damages or regresses every character she touches.
Forgetting about history is something TPTB want the viewers to accept without question but, personally, it is the hardest thing for me to do. A short time ago Philip could not deny he is in love with Chloe and Chloe told him she had feelings for him. Now, he says he is over it and is oh so thrilled with his second co-ed and dreaming of Melanie while slowly becoming more impressed by her - uh oh! And Chloe is jumping from the frying pan into the fire with an unethical sleaze. Barf!
I've noticed too that DH 'protects' the male characters, but portrays the women as wantons, aggressors and scapegoats. With everything that EJ, Philip, Brady, Daniel, and Lucas, have done you would expect them to give and take more heat from other characters (be smarter, more opportunistic, aware) but they don't. They're all somehow being portrayed as good guys or being duped by women. There is some variance but, Brady the drug addict is all supportive and untouchable. EJ the murderer is deceived. Philip the ruthless tycoon is benevolent. Lucas is a cuckolded fool. Even sleazy Daniel is the heroic doctor in love. The viewers are crying foul on that one but it's not in Dena's script at all. Kate and Chelsea are A-OK with the guy. Chloe's the one getting insulted and cheating. Recently raped Stephanie is the one making the moves on Philip. Melanie is the conniving teenage lolita. Nicole is the lying duper. The guys are just there being all bright and shiny like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths. I can't work out if this is misogyny or feminism...
ICAM about Chloe. One of the things that annoys me most about this whole Chloe assassination, is that it is completely unnecessary. Chloe was complex and interesting enough! She was not like the other women or girls, and that was a very good thing. It added some diversity to the female canvas. I think it is a true mark of a bad writer to take a unique character and make them behave like all the other women on the show. Worse, to downgrade them to 'sexpot' status. I believe NB can do more too, she's proved it in the past.
